Nick I pulled the golf cart up at the docks to see Demi waiting there. I came out and rolled up my sleeves. It was mid-October, yet the place was as hot as it had been in August. I was happy that there wasn't any cold weather in Florida. "Hey Demi," I stood next to her. "Hey," She replied. "You called a boat?" I asked. "Yup. You?" "Yeah," There was an awkward pause. I never realized before that Demi and I have never actually sat and had a proper conversation. I prayed for the boat to come quickly, because awkwardness was unbearable. "Awkward," She said and I chuckled. I could tell she was thinking the same thing as me. I decided to make small talk. "Where are you heading?" I asked. A look of guilt washed over her face, but it disappeared quickly, so I could have been wrong, but I wasn't so convinced. "No where in particular. Just some shopping," She replied. "Not dragging Joe along with you?" I laughed a little at my joke. The look returned, then left as quickly as it had come. She looked down and didn't answer my question. "Demi?" I asked. She looked up, then down again. "Joe doesn't know I'm gone," She whispered. "Don't tell him either," "Demi where are you going?" I couldn't keep the sharpness out of my voice. The reality of why she was sneaking out finally hit me. She didn't respond because at that moment, the boat pulled up. We both got in, her sitting at the back, no doubt avoiding me.
